In 2008, 376 children 14 years old and younger died as a result of gunshot wounds, according to the Children's Defense Fund. In 2009, 354 children in the same age group did.
Over the same time periods, almost TWICE AS MANY children died from drowning, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
So, where are the fevered calls for banning swimming pools and hiring more lifeguards?
